Moderated by Alejandra Garza, the panel featured three distinguished experts: Cecilia López Valdenea, Melissa Huertas, and Josue Lavandeira.

Each panelist brought a wealth of knowledge from their respective fields, offering a multifaceted view on integrating technology and artificial intelligence in education to foster a more inclusive, effective, and global learning environment.

Cecilia López opened the discussion by asserting the critical role of artificial intelligence in the educational sphere, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift towards more blended and student-centered learning models. She illustrated how AI could alleviate the burden of time-consuming tasks for educators, such as grading and content creation, allowing them to focus more on engaging directly with students.

Cecilia highlighted AI's transformative impact on language learning from her extensive linguistics and language teaching background. She shared examples of applications that provide immediate feedback on pronunciation and grammar, drastically improving the language acquisition process. Such tools cater to students' learning paces and promote independent learning outside the classroom.

Melissa Huertas expressed excitement about digital tools' potential to challenge traditional educational paradigms. She advocated for a shift in mindset, urging educators to view technology not merely as a set of tools but as an opportunity to rethink the role of the teacher and the student in the learning process.

Melissa cited an anecdote about students using Chat GPT to write creative stories, showcasing how technology can engage students in unconventional and innovative ways. Furthermore, she discussed the Wikipedia Foundation's initiatives, illustrating how Wikipedia and similar platforms can serve as invaluable resources for developing critical literacy skills and fostering a deeper understanding of the collaborative nature of knowledge creation.

Josue Lavandeira presented an optimistic perspective on the evolution of education through technology. He emphasized the significance of the pandemic in accelerating the shift towards more flexible and accessible educational models, highlighting the importance of digital tools in this transformation.

Josue argued that recognizing digital access as a human right is essential for bridging the educational divide and ensuring all students benefit from globalized education. He shared insights into the practical applications of AI and technology in government and education, underscoring the potential for these tools to democratize learning and foster a global culture.

The panelists engaged in a dynamic discussion on how AI and technology can be woven into everyday educational practices. They shared practical examples, including automated grading systems, personalized learning platforms, and language learning applications, demonstrating the tangible benefits of these technologies in enhancing the educational experience for both students and teachers.

The conversation also touched upon the broader implications of technology in education, from fostering global and multicultural perspectives to redefining the teacher-student dynamic. The panelists concurred that the key to successfully integrating technology lies in shifting mindsets, embracing change, and recognizing the value of lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving world.
