Admission and Cost

Q: How is the admission process at Kinich School?

A: The steps are:

  • Attend an informative session

  • Cover the Enrollment Fee: $500 (Included in your Full Tuition)

  • Complete the onboarding requirements

Q: What are the tuition fees?

A: The fees are as follows:

  • 9th-12th Upper High School: Annual Fee $5,800

Q: Do you offer scholarships or discounts?

A: We offer seven scholarships for students passionate about sustainability, sponsored by CUBICO Sustainable Investments. We also provide a 10% discount on tuition for siblings.

Curriculum and Methodology

Q: What academic levels do you cover?

A: We cover from 9th to 12th grade. We currently don't have options for elementary, middle, or preschoolers.

Q: How are the classes structured?

A: Classes are entirely virtual, held on the Knotion® educational platform in partnership with Coursera, and facilitated through TEAMS® or ZOOM® by our Academic Coaches. We emphasize projects, challenges, and personalized learning approaches.

Q: What's the curriculum like at Kinich High School?

A: Our curriculum is tailored to the needs of each grade level and has been curated in collaboration with top universities globally. This approach means that the courses for each grade level are designed by these renowned institutions, ensuring a rigorous academic experience. In some classes, students must obtain certifications or pursue a specialization.

Q: Can you provide an example of such a specialization?

A: Certainly! We are thrilled to offer a specialization program in collaboration with META-Facebook, which has been a highly sought-after and exciting course for our students.

Q: What is the level of English required?

A: All instructions are in English. Students should be proficient in English. Elective language courses are available to learn Spanish.

Q: Are there any homework assignments?

A: Typically, no. However, challenges and projects may require work outside of class hours.

Q: Are there elective courses?

A: Yes, we offer elective courses to complement students' interests. We provide several elective and Advanced Placement courses, particularly in Machine Learning, AI, Data, and sustainability.

Technical and Schedule Queries

Q: What is the school's schedule?

A: High School Experience is from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm (CDT). The Enrichment program is 2 hours every other week.

Q: When does the academic year start?

A: The academic year begins on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023.

Q: What technology is required for the classes?

A: A desktop or laptop computer is recommended. The platform is also accessible on tablets and phones.
 

Q: How much time is spent online?

A: Classes last approximately 45 minutes with 5-minute breaks. There's a 40-minute lunch break. 

Students have two blocks of a maximum of 3 hours each.

A: At Kinich High School, we celebrate diversity. We are proud to have a student body from around the world, predominantly from the US. Q: Does the school have any political affiliations or biases?

A: No, we are not aligned with any political group or perspective. Our primary focus is on the academic and personal growth of each student. We believe in creating thinkers and leaders who can make informed decisions without being influenced by our institutional biases.

Q: I've heard of schools banning certain books. Does Kinich High School practice this?

A: We do not ban books at Kinich High School. We trust our students and their families to approach literature and various materials with a sense of responsibility. We aim to foster critical thinking and allow students to engage with multiple perspectives.

Q: How do you ensure students' social interaction?

A: we have a lot of projects in each class where the student has to interact with other students or people outside the school. 

We also host monthly activities encouraging student interaction, including online cultural meetings, guest visits, and school festivals.

Q: What about students over 18 years old?

A: Kinich School focuses on students between 14 and 18 years old. We don't have options for people over 18 or adults.

Q: Do students receive any certifications in English?

A: We ensure daily English practice and cover the English requirement for high schools. However, we currently don't offer specific certifications in language.
